Coach’s Corner
Purpose:
The purpose of this page is to provide resources and information to administrators and staff that are coaching co-teaching teams.
Innovation Configuration Maps
These Innovation Configuration (IC) Maps are designed to assist co-teachers (general education teacher and special education teacher) in identifying areas of strength and areas of focus for their efforts in the classroom. Once these areas are identified, coaches can work with teachers to develop their skills. The IC Map is not intended to be used for evaluation purposes.
22 Core Competencies for Co-Teaching
Wendy Murawski and Wendy Lochner developed a framework for effective co-teaching, which includes 120 competencies. They further identified 22 competencies as core competencies, or essential competencies, for effective co-teaching. The 22 Core Competencies Observation Checklist helps coaches know what to look for in co-taught classrooms.
